Scott grew up in the theatres of Newcastle, and after training with the Young People’s Theatre (1986-1992), spent a further eight years, lighting pantomime and productions in repertory.
For eight years Scott was the Resident Lighting Designer for The Arts Centre Gold Coast. He was the Production Manager for four years, overseeing the full operations of the musical theatre programs, touring productions and The Summer School, a Queensland Education in the Arts program.
For thirteen years, Scott has held the position of Manager, Technical Group for the Arts Faculty at Deakin University, overseeing the Faculty’s Technical Operations. Scott has worked intensely across most Creative Arts disciplines including Film & Television, Theatre Production, Digital Imaging, Contemporary Dance and Motion Capture, contributing to developments in Arts research, and managing specialised Arts projects, spaces and creative events.
Scott has had a solid career in Australian theatre, working with companies including Hunter Valley Theatre Company, Sydney Theatre Company, Ensemble Theatre, The Production Company, Manillia Street, Queensland Ballet, Straightjacket Productions, Midsumma, Victorian Opera, Flying Teapot, Opera Hunter, La Mama, Young Dancers Company, Melbourne Opera, and Australian Dance Theatre.
Scott was passionate about education in the Arts, and contributed as an educator and mentor, presenting workshops and master classes for ALIA, Victorian Opera, Young People’s Theatre, TAFE, Catholic Education Victoria, and Hunter School of Performing Arts.
Scott is a professional member of the Association of Lighting Designers (ALD), and was Treasurer of the Australasian Lighting Industry Association (ALIA) for seven years.
