Jands Vista Powers Lighting Designs – Nominated for 2016 Parnelli Awards

High-profile lighting designers, Rob Sinclair and Chris Reade have been nominated in the prestigious 2016 Parnelli Awards ‘Lighting Designer of the Year’ category, for their leading edge Peter Gabriel and Dierks Bentley concert tour designs utilizing show lighting and media control by Jands Vista.

The Parnelli Awards recognize pioneering, influential professionals and their contributions, honoring both individuals and companies in the industry.

Longtime Vista user, Rob Sinclair’s show design for Peter Gabriel was part of the ‘Rock Paper Scissors’ summer co-headline concert tour in North America with Sting. It featured both artists on stage for the whole performance, alternating between and sharing singing duties on each other’s songs.

Rob designed and programmed the lighting for songs written by Peter Gabriel – with the occasional song being performed by Sting. He commented: “The Vista showed strength as a team player. Working closely with Danny Nolan, Sting’s LD, we alternated songs and consoles. What could have been a control nightmare was actually a real joy.”

Rob has also created the lighting designs for previous Peter Gabriel tours using his Jands Vista system – as well as for many other high-profile contemporary music artists.

Lighting designer Chris Reade has been using his Jands Vista system to design and control lighting on numerous Dierks Bentley tours over the past decade. For the latest ‘Somewhere on a Beach’ international tour, Chris’s design features eight automated trusses and cues which run from intense to subtle, depending on the song structure. The rig includes moving wash and profile fixtures, and LED strobes. At one point the washlights form an extension of a runway featured in on-screen video footage, and the flashing lights on the wings of airline tips.

Chris commented: “Vista is the most stable console I’ve ever been on in my career. It’s more of a visual console, so I can go into the time line – which is a lot like video editing – and I can see the parameters per instrument that are active in that cue, and I can change the parameters in seconds. It’s very logical, as well as intuitive – it makes sense, everything flows really well and I can do fairly complicated things in a much simpler way.”

The award-winning Jands Vista system is designed to provide cutting edge lighting & media control. With a system to suit almost any scale of show or budget, Vista enables all users to enjoy the same powerful yet simple control as the world’s leading designers and international touring productions.
