Your Flexible Friend

With a crisp, clear, well-balanced response Audio-Technica’s ATM350 cardioid condenser has become a favourite instrument microphone. Now, with some clever reengineering and a series of well-considered mounting options the company has launched a technical update in six versions making it a very versatile performer for both stage and studio.

ATM350a includes a performance update now with 159dB max SPL handling capability (a 10dB increase) and a new in-line power module incorporating a switchable 80Hz hi-pass filter to help control undesired ambient noise. All ATM350a versions come complete with a zip up protective carry case.

The six microphone systems combine the ATM350a with unique mounting components. Options include a rugged spring-loaded drum mount which clamps to a drum’s tension rod, a woodwind mount with an adjustable Velcro fastener strap attaching just above the instrument bell, a magnetic piano mount which attaches to a piano’s cast iron frame, a universal clip-on mount with rubber-lined metal clamping jaws and locking screw, a Velcro violin mount and 125 or 175mm mini gooseneck options.

In Australia prices range from $599 for the ATM350aU (125mm gooseneck, violin and universal mounts) to $629 for the ATM350aD (175mm gooseneck, violin and drum mounts).
