Live Sound Engineering Basics
Live Sound Engineering Basics is an intensive 3 day course. It is designed to take a beginner from the start to having a working understanding of live sound. This is part of our Certificate III Live Production, Theatre and Events (Technical Operations) course.

INTRODUCTION TO AUDIO PRODUCTION
The role of sound systems and the sound crew in production. Equipment recognition, care and maintenance. Learn to identify most common items of equipment and cables.
SYSTEM TOPOLOGY, PATCHING AND SETUP
General system topology including mixing consoles, signal processors, amplifiers, crossovers and loudspeakers. You put a system together.
AUDIO THEORY AND EQUALISATION
Wave theory of sound, decibel notation and acoustics. Graphic and parametric equalisers and their use. You equalise, using a third octave equaliser.
CONSOLE OPERATION AND MICROPHONE USE
Basic audio console functions and gain structure. Microphones and D.I.'s. You plug a microphone in, and learn the signal flow through the mixing console.
OUTBOARD PROCESSORS
Dynamics and effects processors. Patching and basic operation.
