WEEKLY SHOWS
Full time students participate in weekly productions or "rallies". These are conducted by a supervising trainer in our theatre to simulate a real-life production situation.
Past events have included band performances, fashion shows, car & bike launches, corporate gigs and much more. Students have also executed themed festivals and have even filmed TV shows! Our aim is to give students as much practical experience as possible.
Production roles are varied and students are rotated throughout these during the year. Some of the technical roles include: camera operator, audio technician, lighting designer, and communications engineer. Each event is conceived and managed by a team of students in the Venues and Events stream - some of the roles include: event manager, creative liaison, and OH&S representative.
After each rally, students assemble for a de-briefing session with the supervising trainer. We take this opportunity to identify strengths as well as opportunities for improvement. Sometimes mistakes are made, but the great thing is that this means you can learn from them before you hit the real world. Students also maintain individual "production logs" where they critique their own performance on each production.
The final production of the year is the awards night, where current students and parents are invited to the college for an evening of celebration.
RALLIES AND BEYOND
In 2009 we also hosted a variety of 'one off' events, including the Cafe at the Gates of Salvation DVD record, and the Radiators live record.

In 2010 our keynote event is the 20th anniversary of our CX Magazine, an industry party on August 21st. So far we have a 15 piece super band booked, with lots more coming!
There is no doubt - our college is very hands-on!
