National Summit on Work Health and Safety in the Live Performance and Events Industry – 2pm, 19 July 2012 at Melbourne Park

The next course of action is already cast. Before the Radiohead collapse the industry in Australia arranged a summit, which will be held on July 19 in Melbourne.

This follows a national series of Seminars hosted by CX in February. The theme that emerged from those seminars was that promoters and production professionals are often at crossed purposes and compromises can be made in the name of expediency and cost.

Venue owners alone should have the final say on whether an event proceeds. But faced with the juggernaut that is many large concerts, how do they make decisions?

While it is fair to say most Australian entertainment professionals have a good safety culture, we lack clear guidelines.
