Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion is set to join Luna Park and Enmore Theatre as venues with professional concert PA systems installed in house. Jands Production Services will install six V-Dosc boxes per side, plus subs at the 5,000 seat Hordern which will in turn offer promoters the convenience of a pre-installed system.

Consoles and monitors are included in the system deal. JPS have offered a similar arrangement at the 3,000 seat Luna Park venue for several years, based on a JBL Vertec PA. Sydney’s Enmore Theatre has a Nexo Geo-D PA, and has for many years provided both audio and lighting support to venue hirers with great success.

Enmore is one of several Century Venues, including Metro and Factory Theatre, all of which boast in-house production. Some venue production hire deals provide the venue with a commission, where others simply make the production facilities available at no or low cost to the venue for its own produced events.

“Every deal is different”, an insider told CX, “even to the point where if the venue is hungry for a show they can subsidise rental against production hire.” The next category of venue, clubs seating 500 to 1500 have always had installed production, most significant of which is Revesby Workers Club in Sydney which is capable of hosting most mid level touring acts.
