Backdrops Fantastic Australia Wins International Event Award

                                   Special Event Award win coincides with US launch and rebrand

Hot on the heels of winning the international Special Event Award for Best New Product/Technology last Thursday (Feb 1) at a gala awards ceremony held in New Orleans, USA, the Gold Coast-based event company has announced that it will launch its modular panel product into the American market under the new name Modular Backdrops USA.

The Special Event Award win in Best New Product/Technology category was for the fully immersive undersea themed event that Backdrops Fantastic Australia produced for Clubs NSW held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in 2016.

Backdrops Fantastic Australia director Thomas Brown says,“The team is thrilled with the win having been judged against some amazing international event professional peers.  To win the top international award is a proud recognition of the incredible creativity coming out of the Australian event industry.”

“Winning the 2018 International Special Event Gala Award for Best New Product/Technology is such a gratifying feeling.  R&D to produce our modular product line and then adapt the technologies of Augmented Projection mapping onto them in a corporate event space was an extremely challenging but unbelievably rewarding process.   A process that could not have been possible without an extremely trusting long-time client who allowed us the full creative license to explore and experiment with something she never fully comprehended until she saw it live at the final rehearsals.  The Gold Coast Convention Centre also played a major part in our success by actively joining us in a real desire to see this concept come to life by lowering existing access and pricing barriers to make it a truly inclusive creative process.  Beyond the large corporate client and the convention centre – smaller passionate players considerably invested in their time and talents – such as Ikonix, Pixeline and Forum.   We are honoured to have been the recipient of this prestigious international award but want it known that it was only achieved by partnering with the amazing flexibility of the venue, commitment of our client and creative talents of our external technical partners to innovate and strive for something different than the same old ho-hum our Australian Industry struggles with every day!”

Other nominees in the Best New Product/Technology category were Activation Group, Shanghai for the New Volvo S90 China Launch and AirPac Inc., Front Royal, Va. for the Gates Foundation.

Of the launch into the US market, Brown says, “After 15 years building the business in Australia and countless requests to bring our product line and projection mapping to the US corporate event market we decided to make the move and expand our operation. It’s an exciting time for the team.

“Our headquarters are in Denver, Colorado, and we have rebranded the Australian Backdrops Fantastic product to Modular Backdrops for the US and Australian Markets,” said Brown.
